Sebastian Garhammer lives in Åre and is one of the Hestra Team Riders. He spends nearly his entire winter on skis and shares his experience with Hestra’s designers when it comes to gloves development. As a father with two children he also has good insight into what children’s hands need. “I think that children are the perfect test pilots for winter clothes. They are out there almost all the time and lie down in the snow just as much as they stand up in it. As a parent, I immediately notice the difference between good and bad things,” says Sebastian. Leather for the cold, synthetic for thaw Six-year-old Lovis is not so far behind her father when it comes to the number of ski days. “At Christmas, we visited my grandfather in Austria and I also got to go to Riksgränsen with Dad,” says Lovis. Not to mention Åreskutan, where Lovis often goes skiing after school and on weekends. Sebastian says that Lovis wears different gloves, depending on whether it is cold outside or if the snow is wet. Leather is great in the cold, but when it starts to thaw, synthetic materials are better. “I think the one with three fingers is the most comfortable and the mitten is the warmest. They work great!” says Lovis.
